I just had the drawing for my anniversary giveaway. I hope the person that won will enjoy the charts, the basket and the goodies I"m going to fill it with. What? You're wondering why it isn't already filled and ready to mail? Well let me just tell you....
Wednesday morning I got a phone call at work. It was the high school calling to say they thought I needed to come pick up Tyler and likely needed to take him to the ER. What happened? The secretary said that he had been playing basketball in the gym and had gotten hit in the eye with an elbow and that he was throwing up and didn't look too good. Since throwing up is generally Ty's excuse for getting out of school, I asked if anyone had actually seen him get sick. The answer was yes and we needed to come get him. Rob, who works a little closer than I do managed to get there first and called me and said to meet him at the ER, Tyler wasn't looking any too good. He was disoriented and had a whopper of a headache and was very pale and Rob thought he might be in shock. The doc felt sure he had a concussion but wanted to do some x-rays because he might have broken a facial bone. The x-ray came back negative but because a few hours had passed and Ty was still throwing up blood, time to do a CT scan of his brain to make sure he didn't have a bleeder. The doc came back with good news and bad. He said the brain looked okay but they saw a shadow on his orbital bone that caused them some concern. They wanted to do another CT scan. I was a little apprehensive about this because the levels of x-rays in a CT scan are a LOT and there has been a lot in the news about it lately. Anyway, nothing to do but do it, so we did. Turns out his orbital socket had two breaks in it and the fatty tissue behind the eye was leaking into his naval cavity. We would be referred to a surgeon. WHAT? OMG - this is not happening! But, yep, it was. So..... we saw the surgeon yesterday and Ty is having surgery on Tuesday to correct the injury. If we didn't fix it, it wouldn't be life threatening but his face would not look the same because the eye that was hit would sit deeper in his face than his other eye due to the loss of fatty tissue. The surgeon explained it by saying if you have two glasses filled with equal amounts of water and you put ping pong balls in them, they float at the same height. If you remove the water (fatty tissue)in one glass the ball (eyeball) in that glass will float at a lower level. No choice. Anyway, I'd appreciate your prayers for Tyler. He can't wear his contacts right now and his face is swollen and he still has a doozy of a headache so he's not feeling too good. Anyway, Stephanie (Bayou Stitcher) that is why your prize isn't quite ready to go. It may be next weekend before I can get it together - I hope you understand! Please shoot me an email with your mailing address.
Sorry - this one didn't show up too well....
When I did this drawing I didn't want people to feel like they HAD to be a follower to join in the game. However, my followers are special to me and I truly appreciate them and their comments. So - my second drawing is for one of my followers - however there's a twist. in addition to getting one entry for being a follower, you got an additional entry for every comment you made on 5 different posts. If you're a regular commenter, of course you got more chances. I thought, by doing two drawings in this fashion, I get to give one prize to anyone that happens on my blog and reads it but I wouldn't feel like I was buying followers. But... my followers are important to me. They make us all feel like our little blogs are worthwhile. If nobody ever followed or commented, how many of us would continue to do this? I am sure I wouldn't. So to my followers and commenters (no matter where in the world you are), I will have a second drawing that I hope you will like as much or more than this one. It will remain a surprise until you receive it in the mail. However, like this one, it isn't going to get mailed right away. Anwyay, this second drawing has taken me a while to sort out. I had Rob draw numbers to determine which blog entries I would use to determine my entrants and I've begun gathering those. When I'm done, I will make a new post with my follower winner. See, you entered and didn't even know it - who knows - perhaps you were entered up to 6 times (maybe more for some of you clever people that posted twice on one blog entry! Stay tuned.
I also wanted to let you all know that my beautiful Elizabeth Savilles was not sitting in the snow - click on the pic to enlarge and you'll see the Saran Wrap she was sitting on - clever huh?
Last weekend, Rob and I were out and about and I found a couple of fun things..... the tomato pin cushions and sugar bag which I will make a small pillow from:
I love the little orange one!
Oh, there are a couple of other things but I can't show you..... tee hee hee!
Do you get those 40% off coupons from Joann's? Me too! I've decided to start adding to my book collection with their coupons - seems like I've already purchased most of my wants and needs from them so why not? I have fallen in love with the Tilda books after seeing them on many of the French blogs. The dolls are darling and I'm going to give making one a try. Scary, I know!
These are the fabrics for my first two dolls I hope to make - don't you love the mini black toile?
I love these kinds of books - here's another of my favorites although I've yet to make anything from it.
Home Sewn from French General!
Don't you just love this little project?
Finally, my friend Sherry from my guild has started her own blog. Please go pay her a visit and welcome her to blog land. She hasn't posted any pictures yet but she will and when she does, you won't want to miss them. She's very talented and funny and you're going to really enjoy getting to know her.
Sorry for such a rambling post - Lots going on and Laura - I've got your package - didn't get that mailed as early as I'd hoped either but it's coming - I promise!
Peace,
Terri

All thoughts are for your son to get fixed up soon. oops. that kinda sounds funny! Well, you know what I mean. All recovered and handsome as ever!
Terrie
I'm so glad i caught this post. It's just a wonder how something that could be simple turns out to be so involved. I'm happy with you that it's not life-threatening, and will be praying for the surgeons skill, and you son's complete, quick recovery. And, uh, if you're like me, all the faith in the world doesn't stop my tummy from a gymnastics routine.
God bless,
Linda
So sorry to hear about Tyler's injury. I will be sending prayers and good thoughts his (and your) way. I bought one of the Tilda books and am itching to try making one of those dolls too. Don't you just love the photography in the books?
Wow - the link goes right to ME...thank Terri, for your words of encouragement even with all going on with Tyler right now. And thanks for your help! You'll be in my prayers through the surgery...and beyond. They never stop being our babies, even when their teens...
Will be praying for your son! Keep us posted.

Oh my gosh Terri - Hugs to your family and I sincerely hope all goes well with Tyler. Gosh...it's just amazing how things can sometimes take a path we weren't counting on. You take care of yourself too. Love all the new books and fabrics. So many fun things to do and so little time. HUGS HUGS & MORE HUGS
So sorry to hear about your son, and we hope that he recovers quickly. Nothing quite like one of your children being out of the game for a while. Any game. God speed Terri.
Be always in stitches.
How scary for all of you! Especially when it has something to do with the eyes. I'm sending warm thoughts and prayers to all of you for a complete recovery for Tyler.

Hi Terri -- sending prayers and good wishes your way for Tyler. How scary this must have been for you.
Going to popover and visit Sherry's blog now!
OMG your poor boy!
I agree in about the too many CAT scans. They wanted to do one on dh late last year & I questioned them about it. All the other tests came back 100% fine and reading between the lines the doc ordered to cover his butt. We refused that one.
But! It is different when they are trying to find something specific - like cracked orbital bones. I'm glad they found the problem & have a solution. I'll keep Tyler in my thoughts & hope his treatment goes well & he heal fast.
Oh my! I'm so sorry to hear about Tyler and I'll be thinking of him on Tuesday.
Wow! That was scary. I'll keep Tyler in my prayers and you, too. (I have a son named Tyler, too.)
Congrats to Stephanie.
Thanks for a great giveaway, Terri.
Sending good thoughts for Tyler's surgery! Wow! Scary! Glad they figured it out! And oh my gosh I need those tomatoes for my big jar of tomatoes in the sewing room! ;o) Great finds!!!
Oh, poor Tyler, but especially, poor you! I know how moms worry. As always, you've given us a chock-full post. Such a good idea on the books--think I'll do the same with my coupons! I've seen the French General book and didn't know J's sold that. Best wishes to your family in the coming week--I'll be thinking of you.
Hope your Tyler is on the mend and is feeling better soon! We will pray for him and the surgeon to do his finest work! And you too, Mom!
I love the Tilda book and I think your idea to use the 40% off coupons for books is a brilliant idea! French General is my fav and the Tilda girls are too cute!
Looking forward to seeing the one that you want to make.
I am so sorry to hear about Tyler. I will keep him and you in my thoughts and prayers until all is well again. Keep us informed.
I love all the books. And your mater pin cushions are wonderful! I am so hooked on these now and finding different sizes, colors and fabrics of them!
I will pop over and see your friend's new blog now!
Oh my goodness..you sound so calm! I'm so sorry to hear about your son. I hope everything will be ok.
Sorry to hear about Tyler's injury! Wishing him a total and speedy recovery! Will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh Terri, I am so sorry. Poor Ty, I feel so bad for him - I just can't imagine how bad he must feel. It makes my knee seem like a cake walk. Please keep us posted on how he is doing. Praying that his surgery will go well and that he will have a speedy recovery.
Wow, two drawings, whoo hoo! That means I'm still in the running. Congrats to Stephanie on winning all the wonderful goodies.
Love all your new stash - I can't wait to see one of the dolls you make.
Take care, I hope you guys have a quiet, uneventful weekend.

-missy-
OMG! Terri, I'm so sorry to hear about Tyler! I will be sending prayers and good thoughts for his surgery. Poor kid! I'll tell you, with my kids, it's always my son who gets all the surgeries and other problems. He even has to have his ears cleaned out for ear wax every couple of months! lol! My daughter -- nothing, ever. My son? 2 surgeries, plus a couple of in office surgeries. Hope that makes Tyler and you feel better. :D I'm so thrown by your news that I can't even concentrate on the rest of your post. Hang in there. I've been there. I know how you're feeling. It'll be ok, you'll all pull through and Tyler will be good as new. Hugs!
Congratulations to Stephanie!
I know that feeling, hard when our kids get hurt. I hated the dreaded phone calls from school, but after one incident when they didn't call me, I insisted they call me and I would determine if it was serious;)
Debbie
Oh Terri, sure hope everything goes as planned on Tuesday. My thoughts will be with all of you. I'm so sorry you and your son are having to go through all of this. Hope to see you soon, Dawn
So sorry to hear about your son's injury! Hope things go well and improve for him soon. I'm sending good thoughts your way.
Oh my gosh Terri! I was terrified reading about your son. I hope his surgery goes well, and that he is feeling better really soon. My prayers are with your family.
About those Tilda books! I've bought 3 in the last 5 months. They are really great eye candy, eh! I am dying to make one of the angels. I'll help you if you help me! The directions kind of scare me, as they are a little vague. Your fabrics are darling. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Love your little pin cushions and bag. So cute.
Take Care, and many hugs to you.
Oh dear, your poor boy, I'm sure his surgery will go well. My boy has just been through surgery himself and I know as a mother the feelings and worrying you go through especially if you have never had surgery yourself (I haven't), they are soo resilient and heal so much quicker then we do. My son had a week off school and hes back and happy now, no problems!
So I will be sending happy vibes your way.
LISA V.
I will keep you all in prayer. How scary to have to go through all that. I hope all goes well and he is back on his feet soon. Best wishes for a full recovery, Marjo

So sorry to hear about Tyler! How scary it is for a parent to see their child hurt and in pain. Thoughts and prayers will be with you this week!
When I was in college, my lacrosse-playing roommate took a ball in the face and broke her zygomatic arch. She was disgusting to look at. I can't imagine how I would have felt if I were her mother. You have my sympathies and will remain in my thoughts until we hear the good news that his face is fixed.
Terri! How awful about Tyler. Lots of prayers for him and you! Let us know how the surgery goes!
Abby is in radiology school so we hear all about this stuff at the dinner table and just the other night she was talking about CT scans and the amount of radiation. Scary stuff! But like you said, what are you going to do?
Cute new stash and good luck on the doll making. That is not something I will ever try!
Sending good thoughts your way for Tyler and his safe surgery and recovery! Love reading your blog!
I am praying for your son. That is scary. I hope he is back to feeling good soon!!!!
Poor Tyler - that's what you get for going to gym class, lol!! Best giveaway format, ever, btw! Love the books! I'm going to have to try to find that Tilda book - I love that little doll & I bet Leah would too. I had been getting a lot of my books that way (mostly my quilting books), but I guess when I started building my stitchy stash I "forgot". Thanks for reminding me!! :)
how scary that must have been for you and your son. I hope everything will be ok and he will be feeling better soon.
Terri such horrible news about your son Tyler, but so good that the doctors are on the ball, goodness what a shock that must have been, good luck to him on Tuesday.
Lovely books and fabric, the toile is indeed gorgeous.
What an alarming account of Tyler's accident. I sincerely hope that all goes well and he makes a full recovery. Hope he is feeling better very soon.
I'll have to check out the Tilda books. From the comments, they sound wonderful. Love the fabbies. Can't wait to see your dolls come to life.

So sorry to hear about your son. I will say a prayer for him and your family that his surgery goes well and that everything turns out okay. That must have been one hard hit with an elbow. Poor kid.
I like your new books! Eye candy. LOL!
Congrats to Stephanie. :)
Hoping Tyler makes a full recovery and soon! I live in dread at one of those phonecalls from school - but neither of my boys are the athletic type...but even so...how many more grey hairs do we need????
Sending lots of good thoughts and plenty of prayers to Tyler. It isn't easy being a parent especially when your child is injured.
Please take care and stay calm.
Will be thinking of you, your husband and especially Tyler.
Oh, poor Tyler! I hope he is feeling a little better today. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers this week.
While I am very excited to have won your giveaway, you have enough on your plate at the moment. I am sure we will all be anxiously awaiting your post-surgical post.
Take care,
Stephanie
Wow how scary! Lots of good thoughts and prayers that everything goes well with Tyler' surgery.
Hi Terri! You tell Tyler that there are a lot of crazy stitching ladies praying for his quick recovery and that he needs to dodge those elbows in the future. Will keep the entire family in my thoughts and prayers--I understand. My son and his wife and one of their kids was in a traffic accident not too long ago--and it scared me to death. Now don't forget your stitching on Tuesday--it will help to keep your fingers busy.
hugs
Debs
Sending prayers for your son's safe travel through surgery and a speedy recovery.

WOW, what an experience. Will be sending prayers and thoughts for Tyler. Hope that recovery and healing goes quickly.
I can't imagine how I would handle the phone call you received about Tyler. My son plays basketball, too. It is his passion. Oh my gosh, my heart just sank when I read your experience that day. Tell your dear son that the road to recovery has no speed limit and to travel it as fast as he can!!! I will keep you, Tyler and your family in mind and wish the best outcome for Tuesday.
I am so glad you mentioned the saran wrap! Silly me, thinking you would actually plant that frame in the snow unprotected. You did give me a scare though.
I haven't seen those new Tilda books you mentioned. I will have to check them out. I have made several dozens of dolls in my life. They are fun and rewarding.
Jealous me....and those tomatoes....especially the little orange one, I love pincushions!
I just bought me a French General bag to carry my stitching in. I really love this line of fabric. Did you purchase that mini toile ar JoAnn's? It's calling my name, I would really like a piece or two of it.
Happy Sunday Miss Chocolate!!! Smiles....
Oh Terri!! My best wishes to you and your family in regard to Tyler's upcoming surgery!!
