It's a beautiful thing......

I am telling you - there is so much good about this week, this day, this season that I could nearly burst. First, my oldest son Matt graduated from High School on Sunday. It seems amazing to me that enough time has passed in our lives that he could be graduating. Wasn't it just a short time ago that I was taking him to first grade? What they say is true - time does pass quickly and the older you get, the faster it seems to go. This is a picture of Matt with Rob and me shortly before we left for the ceremony.

495 kids processed across the stage and it was wonderful! The event was outdoors at a music theatre and while we were in a covered pavilion, the air was crisp, the sky was blue the birds were flying about and singing - all was right with the world, for that moment. As the beautiful valedictorian was giving her speech - a well thought out and practiced speech, while I was just about to get teary - I looked up at the rafters and spotted a little bird flying around. For an instant I thought, that bird is going to poop on somebody. Yet I never imagined it would be......... no, not me, thank God but it was Rob. Right on his hand (better than in his hair or on his shirt but still funny!)! I almost burst out laughing - I quickly contained my amusement but for a moment those around me thought - what the heck is the matter with that woman? I was laughing so hard I almost cried but not before I remembered to snap a picture. Have you ever seen the movie with Diane Lane called Under the Tuscan Sun? There's a scene in the movie where she's buying an old villa and a bird poops on her. Yep, it's a sign - a good sign! I'd like to believe it's a good sign for Matt as well - even though the bird pooped on Rob - it was Matt's event so I'm giving the good luck to him.

Tonight was Matt's Eagle Scout Board of Review. This is the official Eagle Scout date - although he's still considered an Eagle candidate until the paperwork comes back from National headquarters. However, today's date will be his official Eagle Scout date and there is nothing left for him to do! Yeah!!!! FINALLY!!!! This was a long time coming and there are a lot of happy memories associated with this journey. His court of honor will be sometime in August and I can't wait for that celebration.

This is a picture of Matt with the folks that conducted his BOR. Thank you so much to each and every one of you! Every one of these people have been important to Matt throughout his scouting career.

This season brings such beauty into our lives. Our Spring has been very cool and all the flowers are loving the sunny, warm but not hot, temps. Here are a few pictures from around my yard.

And finally - stitching. I have not been as productive this spring as I have in past years ~ just too much going on, I guess. But I did finish the June block on the PS SAL and I've made miniscule progress on my ABC Sampler by Primitive Needle. Hopefully now that school is out, activities will slow and I can get more done. Working really does minimize the time I get to stitch and I am happy to have my job but sometimes I do wish I didn't have to work so I could stitch! Yet, in this time of hardship, especially in Michigan (we have the highest unemployment rate in the U.S), I am blessed and thrilled to have such a great job and one that I actually enjoy! That is a blessing!!!

Peace!
Terri

Isn't it amazing when your oldest graduates high school? I know the feeling! Congratulations again to you and Matt and Rob. It's also nice to hear that you enjoy your job -- it's always so hard to find a job you actually enjoy. You're lucky!

Congratulations to Matt! Isn't it amazing how fast they grow up and graduate? It's been 11 years since Ashley graduated and 22 years since my son Chad did! Your pictures of the yard are beautiful! Have a great week and enjoy every minute with Matt at this important time of his life. Dawn

First of all, Terri, I am so glad to hear that things are going so well for you and yours. Congrats to Matt, what a wonderfully handsome son you have, and an Eagle Scout to boot...can't get better then that.

Your flowers are gorgeous!! Glad that you guys haven't been having this awful heat and humidity that we have had! Horrors! But it is summer, so one can expect that. Enjoy your nice one!

Your progresses look great! Some stitching is better then none, and I know you will make up for it, regardless of work! They will both be such neat finishes!!

Congratulations to Matt! How exciting that he graduated, bot both you and him. I love your roses. I had 8 rose bushes in the back yard and all but three of them did not make it. Argh! Although the ones that are still with me look beautiful this season. I've gotten the most blooms this year that ever before.

Terri, I love the picture of Matt with the review board, and also LOL at the one of Rob with his hand a bit smudged.
Your yard is beautiful, can't wait to see it in August...so take good care of it until then.
Love,
Mom

Of all the things to happen at Matt's graduation with the bird - poor Rob. But at least he's grinning in the picture. I would definitely take it as a sign of good luck though. And you're so right - time passes so quickly. It's hard to imagine Matt graduating (and both Nick and Ty not too far behind). It is amazing!

Give Matt a huge congratulations too on completing everything for becoming an Eagle Scout. What a huge and wonderful accomplishment!

Your yard and flowers look wonderful. I think you're right that our flowers are loving the cooler weather that we're having.
And for how busy you've been, you've gotten some stitching done. Ya Hoo! Every little bit counts, right? Both are looking great!

See you on Sunday!

Terri - I am glad to hear your job is stable and that you enjoy what you do. I work for a family owned business that owns car dealerships and anxiety is high for us. Who knows if we are able to survive - they lost millions last year and we are hanging by a thread. On a happier note - congrats on your son's graduation and the Eagle Scout honors - WOW what an accomplishment for him. Your flowers are beautiful and your stitching is always wonderful. Relish the moment - they only come around once in a lifetime - Melody

The stitching is looking great as well. Keep plugging away!

Terri you are so right about the time going faster when you are older - it just seems to speed by and the worst thing is that it's one day at a time. My kids are all grown up now but they were little yesterday. I sound so maudlin but I'm not really. Congrats on your baby graduating and your stitching is amazing and I love it all to pieces. Love Patti xxx

Congrats to Matt for graduating and becoming an Eagle Scout! Major accomplishments for him (and his parents!) Your flowers are beautiful in your yard! Our weather here in California has been wonderful this summer also - usually we are in the 90-100's right now but we are enjoying temps in the 70's! It's been a really nice change! Love your PS - it's so tiny and what a great way to stitch it all together!

Congratulations to Matt! Yay~ :D It really is unbelievable how time flies.
The bird poop story was so funny! I was laughing away cause I went through a similar situation in highschool. My friends and I were sitting in the circle chatting away and we were like that bird better not poop on us... what do you know~ it landed a big, juicy one right on top of my friend's head. I was half shocked and half amused and proceeded to laugh until I was the one washing it off her hair. :P

Your red roses and your WIP's look wonderful! I hope you get more time to devote to stitching now that school is out~ :D

Congratulation to your son on his graduation! Dosen't it make you swell with pride when they walk across that stage, i know i shed a tear when my daughter graduated university, it'll be my middle daughters turn next year.
Had to laugh about the bird poop - sorry! but your right , it's supposed to be good luck.

Hi Terri,
Congrats to Matt. Time sure does pass quickly...it seems like yesterday that my girls were little and the next thing you know they are graduating from high school. Then the next thing you know one of them gets married and you become a grandma. Wow...now that makes me feel old. LOL...

I had to laugh at the bird poop story as I had one poop in my hair once...it wasn't funny at the time, but I laugh about it now whenever I tell the story.

About our folk-art angels...I also got mine at a craft show~~The Sauerkraut Festival in Waynesville, OH...I've been doing that show for 25 years now. I think I've had my angel for 10 years or more and she is also one of my favorite pieces I own. After looking at the picture of yours...I think it is possible that same doll artist made both of them.
hugs, Cindy
