Threads, Beautiful Threads

First - this is BIG! You may recall a couple of months ago (more or less) I posted kind of a bitchy post about LHN and they way they (and other designers, too) package some of their charts (Bent Creek comes to mind, too). They create a design and then release it one bit at a time costing you a small fortune. Anyway, after that little rant, my friend Sabine sent me all her charts AND her left over threads. Can you believe it??? As soon as I am done with these, she and I are going to have a giveaway for the entire chart package. Not sure how many threads will be left by that time but if there are any, the winner will get them. You will have to be a follower on both of our blogs and will have to post on both to win but NOT YET. Keep watching and she and I will let you know when this is going to happen. You all know I'm a slow stitcher these days so don't go holding your breath or anything! Anyway, here's a picture of my soon to be started project with all of Bine's threads so neatly labeled. Thank you Bine!

I worked some yesterday on the ABC Hornbook by The Primitive Needle which I think is looking great and now that I have all the floss I need (I didn't have about 6 colors I needed) and had kind of stalled. But as you will see in a moment, my LNS had a sale and I got all I need and now I can really move out on this design (I hope).

As I said, our NSLLNS (not so local, local needlework store) was having a sale and so Julie and I trotted over there at lunch yesterday. In addition to the remaining threads for the ABC Hornbook I got:

I've wanted to do this chart since it first came out and at 20% off, it was time to buy. I think it's sentimental and reminds me of Matt moving on in his life's journey so I want to stitch it as a reminder of this wonderful time in our lives.

And again, because this is the greatest group of women, I was able to get the chart I had coveted for a long time, the BOAF Friendship sampler from a stitching friend. So, I bought all the fibers for that yesterday as well. I had some fabric on hand which I think is a 35 count or so and think the colors look pretty on it. This is my next start - then I'll be doing the LHN FSTSS (From Sea to Shining Sea) at lunch at work.
I can not wait to get started on this one - the bright, fun colors are some I haven't worked with in a while and I'm really looking forward to it.
This final pic is of all the fibers I bought yesterday for all my pieces plus a few extra thrown in just because they were pretty.

I should have a fun post tomorrow.... stay tuned!

Finally, thank you so much for all the comments on Matt's Graduation and making Eagle Scout. I know myself how easy it is to read a blog and then keep moving - never letting the reader know that you were even there or that you found their work, commentary or whatever interesting. But, for those that stop by and take that extra minute or two to comment, I sincerely thank you. And, if you stop by but don't ever have a minute to comment, that's okay too - thanks for stopping by anyway!

Peace!
Terri

Terri, you lucky girl, look at all the wonderful projects! The colours of the threads are surely gorgeous! Great eye candy!

Now I am wanting to start ABC! I'm still waiting for the floss for Friendship.

Looking forward to seeing your next post!

Lovely haul, Terri. Don't you feel "rich" with all those threads? I had a ton of silk left over from FSTSS and have been waiting to hear from my friend to see if she wanted the set, or I'd have offered it to you. If you stitch on the recommended fabric or smaller, the next person will have enough silk to complete with the exception of possibly one color. Absolutely adore your ABC, its looking great.

It was lovely seeing the pics of Matt's graduation, and poor hubby, getting bird poo on him. My dad was an Eagle Scout also, and I think he was disappointed when he had all girls. Congrats to Matt, that was hard work but so very worthwhile.

Great buys Terri! Your threads are beautiful. I wish our shop could afford to carry all the different ones, I'd be in 7th heaven then for sure! FSTSS is a great chart and I'm with you, about how the designers package them. Glad a friend could help you out!

Your ABC Hornbook is coming along so nicely, I want to start that one soon! What fabric are you using? It's gorgeous!
Love that SB kit, I have it too and need to start on it soon....
Great stash haul, the threads are so lovely. Don't you just love to sit and admire them all together like that? Life is GOOD!

What a great day at the LNS! I wish I could have made that sale (like I need more things - LOL). All the threads are gorgeous though. Plus those are some great patterns too. You'll love Sailing Away. It goes quick and is so cute when done. See ya tomorrow!

How nice of your friend to send you these charts! Enjoy Sail Away. That is such a beautiful sampler!

Congratulations to your son. I hope life has all that is good in store for him.

And, thanks for sharing your philosophy on happiness!

What a special friend you have. I agree with the comment about designers making a series that costs a fortune. I bought the Lizzie Kate charmed series. It was the most expensive project I ever did (made worse by the fact that the vendor charged me $9 per chart to ship). Then, I had to badger same shop to fulfil their obligations to send me the Bent Creek series - they just got slack and stopped half way through.

Fondle Heaven!!!! All those lovely colours to play with.
I too have a friend who has given me charts/floss/fabric and it is a wonderful thing to be on the receiving end of stitchy friendship love.
Enjoy it - I look forward to watching your progress

Oh Terri, you lucky girl! I love the charts and thread you got from your friend. That was very thoughtful! I understand your frustration with Bent Creek and LHN. I have spent a small fortune on those patterns! I wish they wouldn't do that, but I guess it makes good business sense to them.

I love the Shepherd's Bush kit. I got that for Christmas. We should see if anyone else would like to have a stitch-a-long on it.

Have a great day! Lovely stuff.

Oh you're so lucky to have a great friend. I would have done the same thing as you but you had courage to be bitchy about how much it cost to buy those. I would love to own Sweet Treats someday down the road. Mike thinks they're nuts to spell little at a time & cost us so much money. Treasure them!! HUGS,
Dawn

Wow, Terri, what great stitching news! How sweet of Sabine to share!

I love all of your new designs and have also wanted Sail Away since it came out. It is perfect to stitch in honor of your son. And the BOAF friendship sampler is too cute. I know you'll enjoy working with such pretty colors.

Wow, lucky you!! The FSTSS charts, the Friendship, the stash enhancement, the progress on ABC Hornbook--lovely!! YGG!

The Sail Away, ahhh, that reminds me of my kids, too. I don't know if you like Toby Keith, but he has a song that features lyrics with pretty much the same saying as Sail Away. I can't listen to it w/o choking up. These kids grow up too fast!
