Yep, I sure can pick 'em!

I picked up my framed pieces this evening. I really love how they turned out. I hope you'll like them, too. Here's Jenny Bean:

I loved the detail on the side of the frame and think that if anyone actually notices it, they'll think it's pretty.

I also picked up my Prairie Schooler Year which I had framed in a more simple style but I love it.

Now.... you might think that the title of my post has something to do with these frames I picked. But, you'd be wrong. What it has to do with is the frame I saw tonight and thought would be perfect for my sweet Elizabeth. I had already decided that I was going to go in a different direction with Elizabeth than I normally do. I was going to go less prim and more elegant. She is French, after all! So, when I saw this moulding - I thought this is IT. It's perfect.

Sadly, it didn't photograph as pretty as it really is. Trust me. It's a beauty! Anyway, I flipped the little piece of moulding over and what should I discover? A hefty,$34 a linear foot price on this sucker. Are you KIDDING me? I stitched Elizabeth on 32 count fabric, she's not exactly petite which means this would be a VERY costly frame job. Yikes. I have to find something else. Oh, it is gold leaf; not that that matters. Yep, I sure can pick 'em!

I hope to have Elizabeth done in the next week or so. Anne asked me about my thread colors; I did change them. Instead of the called for Taupe, I used Crescent Colors (CC) Weeping Willow, instead of Prov. Brown, I used CC Cocoa Brown, instead of Phil. Red, I used CC Apple Fritter, instead of Bucks County Red, I used CC Cherry Tomato and instead of Innocence Rose, I used CC Blushing Beauty and finally, instead of Quaker Swan, I used CC Green Onion.

Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting my little corner of the world. I so appreciate your sweet comments!!!

Have a great rest of the week, my friends!

Peace,
Terri

Beautiful frame jobs on both pieces! Jenny just shines in her lovely moulding! I love the gold moulding but know what you mean about cost so I hope you can find something you like just as much for less.

I hope the chart has arrived by now.

Oh, oh! You really CAN pick 'em!! Your frame choices really set off your stitching! Beautiful!!

Oh and Jenny Bean can come and visit my house anytime you get tired of her!

OMG, this just proves we are soul sisters, lol! I always pick the most outrageously priced frames myself, it's unreal!! We just have good taste and sometimes it comes at a very high price, ha!
I LOVE your Jenny Bean framing finish, it's gorgeous! Absolutely drop dead gorgeous!

PS Love the frame for the PS finish too, it's perfect!

Love your frame choices... even the really expensive one!

Your pieces look beautiful!

I have that same "I can pick em'" problem when I have to custom order something!

Beautiful frames for such worthy pieces, Terri! Like your choice for Liz, but oh my gosh, the price! Are you going to look for a comparable substitute?

Absolutely gorgeous Terri!!! Looking at your Eliabeth, I am envisioning what a pretty antique/distressed somewhat white frame would look like on it. What do you think??? Decisions, right? I spent over a whopping $350.00 for just the frame moulding on one of my projects.....I talked myself into it thinking....if I spend all this time stitching something so beautiful with hand dyed linens, threads and beads, why should I vow for anything less inexpensive in framing???? I know, I know, I still spend a pretty penny on framing, but it's just something to think about...or talk yourself out of!!!

Lovely frames on lovely samplers -- nice choices, Terri! I really like the ornamentation on Jenny's frame. The gold molding is beautiful but $34 a linear foot -- yikers! That'd be a bit rich for my blood, too!

Jenny Bean is beautiful all framed up!

Glenna said...

Oh, my--$34 a linear foot? Like when, after reading the home dec magazines, I decided I just had to have glass tile (little ones) instead of ceramic in the big bathroom. And found that glass was about double the cost of the ceramic...uh, no. Disappointing! I think the gold frame IS lovely though. Sigh.

The other frames are gorgeous and really complement JB and PSY!

I love to stitch, and I really enjoy the designs you choose to do. Your work is lovely. I'm glad I've found someone to share this with,

All three frames are stunning. They are perfect for each piece. And couldn't you consider that gold frame an investment? LOL I look forward to seeing what you decide on.

Cari said...

Yep...you can sure pick 'em!! Beautiful frames (and stitching too). Love the one with the design on the side of the frame...very unusual. Good job Terri. Can't wait to see Elizabeth framed. You'll find one that is just right!! Hugs and happy stitching.... :)

I love the frames you've chosen. Too bad the gold one is a bit pricey - good luck finding something that won't require re-mortgaging your home. LOL!

Great frames on both pieces. The gold one is gorgeous. Best of luck finding one that you like~

Marnie said...

Your frames are PERFECTLY PERFECT! $34/ft is pretty steep but it is gorgeous. My mom used to say, "I should have been born rich instead of beautiful". That goes for me too!

Kim said...

Gorgeous Terri!! All of them! Eeeeek! Stiff price to pay for the gold leaf....but if it's truly PERFECT, I'd maybe have to eat beans for a while to pay for it! ;o)

Melissa said...

Your framed pieces look wonderful! You sure do know how to pick them!

That frame for Elizabeth does look very elegant. I hope you find a good substitute. I had a similar experience where I had my heart set on a frame. In that case they didn't make it anymore! Good luck!

Hi my dear friend Terri,

I love your framed pieces, especially Jenny Bean! Wow, what a gorgeous frame. Would you happen to know who made the molding? I would like to see if my framer could get that.
As for your expensive frame taste...I have to admit, I would have died to see that $34.00 price tag! If it's more than $15.00, I figure it's more than I can afford. It only means you have fantastic taste.
Thanks so much for you wonderful comment on my blog. How I miss chatting with you! You are such a dear. I hope that things are going well for you.
Have a great night, and many hugs!

Hello Terrie~your finished work is lovely and the frames you chose are a perfect match! Thank you for sharing with us!

The framing on both pieces is perfect. And I do love the gold frame. You're like me - I always pick the most expensive without seeing the price. Hope you find something less pricey that you love equally.

Faye said...

I like both framed pieces but Jenny Beans frame is BEAUTIFUL~~ Very nice choice..congrats on your finishes!~ Faye

Lovely framing. Your choices are perfect.
At least you checked the price. I once ordered a frame for a Mira without asking the price - framing came to a whopping $300 - did I learn a lesson there!!!!!

Margaret said...

Don't you hate it when you pick out a frame and it turns out to be so expensive? That's happened to me too. Are you going to go with it anyway? Looks worth it to me. How many times will you frame Elizabeth after all? :D I loooooove your framed pieces as usual. You always pick out the best frames for your finishes!

Melody said...

Terri, beautiful framed pieces! Love, love, love the Jenny Bean. I've stitched many of the monthly prairie schooler pieces, but really like your finish of them all on one piece.

congrats on your beautiful work.

Missy Ann said...

Ah geez... Jenny Bean is outstanding! If/when I stitch my JB & if/when I get her framed I sending your picture to my framer with "I want" stamped across it.

Sorry to hear about the $$ of Liz's frame, but she is a beautiful girl & deserves nice things. (I know - I'm part of the problem not solution lol )

Kellie said...

Both framed pieces look fantastic! Love your choices for both. And I love the frame for Elizabeth, but I can also understand not wanting to spend that much on the frame. Yikes. Hopefully something that you love just as much for a lot less will catch your eye. :)

Nancy said...

You certainly can pick 'em, and by that I mean I love your frame choices for Jenny Bean and your PS piece. They really are gorgeous and look perfect with your stitching! Isn't it amazing how expensive some frame mouldings can be?

I am CRAZY over Jennys frame!!! Outstanding Prairie schoolert too :)
Glad I am not the only one with Rolls Royce taste!! Cant wait to see it all done. It is gonna be Gorgeous!!!!

Kathy said...

Both pieces are awesome. Great stitching and framing. You picked out good ones. That gold one must be totally made of gold. I know how hard it is to change once you have seen the perfect thing. Bite the bullet and get it, you are worth it.

Sandra said...

Love your two new framed pieces, they really suit the stitching. I think perhaps a gold moulding might be too much for Elizabeth, it will detract too much from the stitching. I think perhaps a brown wood frame with a pinky highlight somewhere along the way.

Your framed pieces are gorgeous! I seem to have the same "talent" as you for picking the most expensive frame in the shop LOL

Anna Zont said...

Beautiful finishes! Frames are absolutely gorgeous!!!

KarenV said...

Those frames are just beautiful! I love the detail on them and they both suit their respective pieces perfectly! Good luck with getting something more in your price range for Liz :)

Jane said...

Terri, you've done a terrific job picking the frames for your finished pieces. They're wonderful!

SiobhĂ¡n said...

GULP! I don't think I've recovered from the cost of the gold moulding. Jiminy crickets! I had to tell my shop to only show me stuff in an affordable price range because I'd go for the caviar frames instead of the ramen noodle frames I can afford. LOL Your frames are just absolutely perfect, you must be so happy with them. I wasn't too pushed on doing Jenny Bean Christmas till i saw your finish, now I must do it.

Thanks for listing out your color changes on Elizabeth. I have all the threads for mine but don't know how much I'll enjoy using them, so we'll see how it goes. I love how yours is looking--the colors are a bit richer.

Vonna Pfeiffer said...

The frame on Jenny is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! And I love how both of them turned out! The frame for Elizabeth is exquisite, and believe me, I can pick 'em too...out of 1000's of choices, I'll get the most expensive every time!

Pam said...

I've done that and it is so disappointing! You think you have found the PERFECT frame, then you hear the price! I hope that you find something that you love that is more affordable!

Deb said...

Both your pieces are beautiful framed, especially the Jenny Bean piece - that frame is truly outstanding!! BUT OMG on the cost of that gold one!! Youzers! You certainly do know how to pick them! I'm sure that you'll be able to find something a little more reasonable. Think of all the stash you can buy with the money you didn't spend! :0) It is a pretty frame though.

Both are stunning! The frames you chose are really gorgeous and perfectly complement both pieces! Enjoy!!!

VERY NICE framing on your pieces! Your Elizabeth is just fabulous!

Julie M said...

Terri, you always choose such beautiful frames for you pieces!

Gotta love those expensive little gold frames! I cringe at work when I pull them off the wall for a customer but sometimes they really do look the best and there isn't a less expensive option. Sucks when that happens though. Hope you can find the perfect substitute!

All those frames are gorgeous! I especially love the first one. I think the price is reasonable because it really look elegant and beautiful! :)

$34 DOLLARS, oh my! I really do hate it when I find the 'perfect' frame only to learn it is not the 'perfect' price. It is a beautiful frame!

Your other two pieces are just fabulous - you do have an eye for choosing the right frame to set a piece off.

Enjoy your day!

They look beautiful framed. I need to reframe my old one, I didn't mat it right, so this time I will do it right and with acid free backing to preserve the piece.

I'm sure you will be able to find a frame as gorgeous as the gold one for Elizabeth. That really is an expensive frame!

I love the frames for Jenny and the PS piece. PS always calls for something a little more rustic, I think, so well done. They both look amazing!

Theresa said...

Thanks for sharing Jenny Bean with everyone -- people love that girl! I used to work at a frame shop that had the gold (real gold) frames. Funny. No one ever ordered those. An 8 by 10 would break the bank! - Theresa (Shakespeare's Peddler)

Definitely gorgeous frames -- and equally lovely stitching!

Valerie said...

The framing for both pieces is gorgeous! I too would have picked the $34/ft frame...just ask my husband! There is something about beautiful things always having to be expensive! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog and look forward to your finish on Elizabeth!

Brigitte said...

Oh Terri, both pieces look fantastic in their frames. Wonderful. And you can be sure that I would choose the most expensive frames for my finished works as well without knowing it, lol.
I love Elizabeth's progress picture.

gazette94 said...

Hello Terri, the 2 frames are just perfect for your lovely work..
The last one is quite expensive, but some stitching deserve the best !

Debs said...

Perfect choices for frames on those pieces. You did us up proud. And you have such a great eye for the perfect ones. With regards to that lovely but oh, so expensive moulding, you might try and find that moulding some place else, or see if the framer can order it sans gold leaf, and gold leaf it yourself once its made up.
Hugs

Love, love your frames Teri! Jenny Bean is awesome and I absolutely love the PS piece all done up. You and your family looked great at your son's bday celebration. can't wait to see your upcoming projects. Happy weekend!

All of your framed pieces are absolutely beautiful. When I go into a frame shop I have to tell them whether I want a cheaper frame or a more expensive one then they give me my choices. Then I try to close my eyes and not look at the others that are around the store. haha!

Hi Terri,

What beautiful frames you have picked for your samplers. They really set off the samplers.
The gold frames is absolutely beautiful for Elizabeth. She has always been on my wish list and I think she would look stunning in this frame. I shall look forward to seeing her all together. - Sandra.

Oh, Terri, they both turned out beautifully!! And I looove the detail on the back of Jenny Bean's frame - very very nice.

I have done that with frames sooo often!! At least we know we have good taste, right? I think you should splurge on the frame for Elizabeth... she's going to be a beauty and deserves a fantastic frame, too! Oh wait... I'm enabling, aren't I??

Susan said...

Great frames, Terri! And you finished Jenny Bean so quickly--wasn't it only released late in the fall?

The gold leaf frame is steep, but beautiful. I really hope you find an alternative that you love just as much.
