A little blog about my big loves; family, friends, stitching and yep, chocolate!

Chocolate Loving Followers!

Hello dear friends,

I wanted to let you know that DMC has started their series on crafting studios and organization. Guess what? I'm first up! I hope you'll pop over there and have a look at their blog and the pics of my craft studio and the little tutorial I did. Trust me, the tutorial is no great shakes but mine (you'll see what it is when you visit the DMC blog) turned out really cute. I am just so tickled that they asked me to be a part of their blog and hope you'll enjoy it, too. If you are visiting my blog as a result of viewing the DMC blog ~ Welcome! I hope you'll enjoy your visit and I hope that you'll come back often.

Also, I want to show you a pic of a lovely PIF (pay it forward) gift I received from Sandy! Thank you so much Sandy; I love everything and have already made a new scissor fob for the wonderful scissors you included:

I am so into making these little strawberries right now - fun, fun, fun!!!

The other thing I've done is to make a Kentucky Derby hat for my dear friend Lisa's daughter, Julie. Julie is going to be a freshman in high school this year and she and Lisa and some friends are headed to the Derby this weekend. Lisa's son Eric is a freshman at UK and will also be at the derby! Julie will be wearing a black, white and pink dress that is so cute and I was
thrilled when Lisa asked me to turn her hat into something derby appropriate. What do you think?

Isn't she a doll!?

I know - another post with not much stitching - no point in showing a picture of so little done - but I can show you this.... I stopped by the SA this afternoon on they way home and picked up this framed pic for a song. I love the frame and the girl. The frame is old as is the backing so I'm assuming this little beauty has some age to it. How much, I've no idea. The backing paper is brittle and tattered but all in tact. I love it!

One final picture to share. Here are some of my scissor/flower frogs. The one in the pink and white stoneware are not meant to go together but I thought they looked great. Look for any kind of bowl that will accommodate the glass frog and you're good to go. A lot of the original bowls had three legs, tall stems or deep vases. A marriage of an old bowl or vase with a frog is a beautiful thing. Wouldn't you agree?

Thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving a comment - I really appreciate them! Someone on another blog asked if you remember how it felt when you first started blogging and you'd check to see if you had any comments and how you felt each time your count went up? Guess what? I still feel giddy when I see that I have a new comment and
I really appreciate that you take the time to leave them. Seriously, they're like little gifts and they are the best "awards"!!! Thank you so much!

Peace,
Terri

And you and Deb have certainly won me over with the flower frogs, I need to stop by a few places and see what I can find in the way of bowls and dishes for the tops I have located! Yippee!!

I need to change my latest blog entry from Terri the Enabler to Terri the Star! Congratulations, friend! What a huge honor and the article is just wonderful. Great pictures of your room and I love all your storage ideas. What an inspiration to so many.

Love that Derby hat and what fun to go and experience the race in person! Definitely on my bucket list.

Oh those strawberries are just so, so sweet, Terri! I'm just waiting for you to add a price tag to them :-)

Ok, either flower frogs do not exist in the south, or these southern ladies never part with them. Not to worry, I am not giving up the hunt - that's half the fun, lol.

Well, back to the books (sigh). Visiting with you was a fun diversion!

Have a great rest of the week!

I know a celebrity! How cool is that? Love your studio feature on the DMC blog...it's absolutely cool! I love the hat--I should do one for me since watching the triple crown races are one of my favs of Springtime. I have been searching for my frog - I know the perfect one is waiting at some gararage sale or s.a. or somewhere...then to find the flower frog part. Hope to see you Sunday.

The derby hat turned out so fun and yes, she does look like a doll in it. Great job Terri.

I'm lovin those frogs and strawberries, too.

If you decide that someday you want to part with that picture, please put me at the top of the list so I can have first dibs at it!!! Smiles....

What a cute Derby hat! I hope they have fun. You always find good stuff at the thrift stores. I went on Tuesday and there wasn't anything good.

Loraine said...

Oh my Goodness Terri! Just have to tell you how wonderful your sewing room looks on the DMC blog. Great ideas too! I love the rolled linen idea. I'm going to have to try that. I love the color of your walls too. So cute, although, I would not want to think about painting that checkerboard floor over. (Any project like that, I tend to avoid as much as possible!)
Congrats on a wonderful showing! Also love your tape measure tutorial. I think one of your cute strawberry scissor fobs, and a tape measure would be fun together.
The derby hat is stunning! What darling girl! Hope she had a great time.
Your flower frog collection is really growing! So many pretty frogs in there too.
The new paper pictures is perfect for your house, can't wait to see where it's new home is.
Have a fabulous weekend. I'm so sorry I haven't called you back. I feel like a chicken with her head cut off. We are making a quick trip to Philadelphia tomorrow. Should be home Monday. Talk to you later. Many hugs dear friend.

I loved your DMC post! This is great. I also love the hat. It gives me an idea for my Preakness Hat. We are going the day before the race to watch the female jockies compete. A large group of women from work are going together for a day out and a great meal. I am excited. I will have to take pictures! I love the scissor flower frogs!
