Sunday and I'm finally back to normal, whatever that means.
It has been a rough week.
You may not know that over the past few months, I've been participating in a workout program called Bootcamp or P90X.
Whatever you may call it,
I call it torture!
(but it does get results!).
It is being offered thru work and it's twice a week of sweaty, painful, torture. On Tuesday, it was really hot here, 95 degrees with a heat index of 100. We worked out for about 40 minutes (in the gym) and the instructor says
"Grab your water, we're headed outside."
Huh? It's 100 degrees, I'm more than half that in age and I'm already sweaty and tired and did I mention I have heart disease?
Yep, headed outside.
To run.
WHAT???
Out we went. Thankfully we didn't run far, maybe a 1/4 mile and back inside for more torture. After 10 minutes, he says,
"Grab your water, we're headed outside."
Clearly, I'm delirious.
We've already been outside.
He didn't just say that, did he?
My face and body are literally dripping sweat and I'm a really pretty shade of red, like a ripe tomato kind of red. Nope, I'm not hearing things. I'm not delirious. At least not yet. So, out we go, same routine. 1/4 mile and back for 10 minutes of continued exercise.
Finally done, right?
WRONG!
He says it again. WTH? Are you kidding me? We're running again? Yep. "One more round, then we'll call it a day", he says.
Out we go. In the heat. Already hot and sweaty.
I couldn't do it, but I tried. I ran 1/2 the distance and headed back inside.
Forced myself.
I. AM. NOT. A. QUITTER.
I was feeling sick. Oh, God. Please don't let me loose it out here for all the world to see. Thankfully, I managed to find my way to the ladies room before I lost all the water I had drank in the last day. Every bit. But, I recovered (or so I thought), went back into the workout room to finish the cool down and call it a day.
Didn't feel good the rest of the day but I was alive.
That was Tuesday afternoon.
I got home and went to bed (it was about 5:30 PM).
Wednesday, I didn't feel great all day but blamed it on not sleeping well Tuesday night.
Didn't feel much like eating or drinking all day on Wednesday and just kind of laid low but managed to make it thru the day.
Thursday, there was a major event at work so I got dressed up in a pretty, white dress. Had these killer shoes on and was feeling pretty good.
Sorry about the pedicure and the heels - this is a reenactment and I've been working in the yard all morning.
You know. One of those days where you feel like your dress is pretty, your hair looks pretty good, you remembered to put on mascara and lipstick.
One of those kind of days.
And then it happened.
I was carrying my laptop, my phone, my work ID and I stepped into the elevator which was about 1/2 full with more people following behind me. My heel got caught in the grate of the elevator and...
DOWN I WENT.
Like a TON of bricks.
BAM!
My stuff went flying, I went flying, the lady I fell into went flying and of course, my dress went flying.
Thank God I remembered to put on panties!
Not that that's something I normally forget but I'm just sayin'. Anyway. I scraped the heck out of my knees, hit the bridge of my nose on something, bruised the heck out of my foot that got stuck, my arm has got a bruise the size of Texas on it and I'm in pain. I gathered myself up as quickly as I could and got off on the next floor.
I needed to get out of there as fast as I could.
Do I need to tell you that I was MORTIFIED!?
I stepped out of the elevator and could only think to get out of sight as quickly as possible so I scooted out of view of the elevator.
But, I was not out of hearing range.
I heard one of the guys on the lift say, "That's Terri, she works for Jerry _____ ('cause everyone knows who Jerry is).
Then the next thing I hear is laughter.
Lots of it.
I know.
Falls are funny.
Especially when someone is obviously okay but I burst into tears and was beyond embarrassed. The office made me file an accident report; in 25+ years I've NEVER filed an accident report. That's not to say I shouldn't have (like the time I stepped out of the stair well to the outside and dropped about three feet to the ground due to construction). That's a different story. When I fell in the elevator, and had such a bad headache, everyone was worried I might have a concussion. I'm sure I didn't but I did feel sick that afternoon and the next day, too. I went home early on Thursday and again, went home and went to bed.
Not much to eat or drink.
Friday, got up, got dressed and made it into work but by the time I got there, I felt horrible. Rob came and got me and took me home. I slept most of the day away until he came home that evening when it dawned on him that I wasn't feeling crappy because of the fall. I was feeling crappy because I was probably near heat stroke on Tuesday and hadn't eaten much and had barely drank anything since then. He got me a Gatorade, I downed that and within a short time began to feel better.
Another couple of Gatorades and all's well.
Moral of the story is - well, I don't really have one. Except to maybe keep a Gatorade on hand for after workouts instead of only drinking water. Need to refuel those electrolytes or whatever it is that's in Gatorade.
Finally felt well enough yesterday to head out for a little bit. I went to a sweet, little town called Romeo and went to my favorite shoppe: The Urban Merchant. Kevin and Joe run the place and they have great home accent stuff, all with a touch of Paris. Ooh, la la!
Can't show you what I got there but I can show you what I got at a second shoppe in town called "Two Girls in Romeo". It is a teeny, tiny little shoppe but was, oh so cute. I found this beaded and embroidered bag and although it wasn't the bargain I usually go for, I had to have it to hang in my craft room. It's missing some of the beads but not enough to be a problem and I just fell in love with it.
Isn't it pretty?
Click to see it a little better.
The top latch has two little rhinestones on it. Here's the inside:
Again, sorry about the manicure - yard work does it.
I also got this pretty necklace. I think I'll stack it with a bunch of pearls but for now, it's resting in my lavender plant!
Isn't that where you keep your jewelry when you're not wearing it?
I'll be back on Sunday with a stitching update. I had hoped to be done with the A&E repro sampler but have not stitched all week, so I don't know if I'll get finished or not. No big deal, either way - I love working on it. Almost all of it anyway - the over one is not my favorite part but even that isn't as bad as running in the heat or falling in the elevator!
Have a great week ahead, friends! Thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving me a note, when you can! I appreciate them so very much!
Be well,
Peace!
Terri

Good lord Terri - you did that in the weather we've been having? I'm almost wondering if you had a mild case of heat stroke. The P90X stuff is bad enough on a cool day. I didn't even go there for most of the week and all my walking was in the basement.
Take care of yourself for a few days. I did have heatstroke when I was a kid. The evil neighbor down the street wouldn't give us kids water that were playing with her daughter. I felt sick, started walking home and passed out. When I woke up, I was in my parents bed with no idea how I got there. And I felt awful for a week.
Love those shoes - snazzy - but sorry about the fall!! It had to be when you were wearing a dress, didn't it?
WOW! You have had an eventful week! Glad you are alright after dehydration and fall.
Your beaded bag is lovely!
OH MY GOSH...I'm glad you're alive girlfriend. That is one scary scenario!! I DO love, love, love the bejeweled purse you picked up! I would have brought it home too!! Hugs dear friend and keep your Gatorade near by.
Slow down! You poor thing, sounds like ones' worst nightmare! The shoes are gorgeous, hope you will regain enough confidence to wear them again. So glad you were wearing "panties"!!!!! x
oh my, what a week! Glad you figured it all out, heatstroke is not fun!
Killer shoes ;o)
Crikey, I feel hot even reading about your boot camp!
So sorry you had an accident in your heels (which are awesome) and I hope you are ok now!.
I love your bag, it's very pretty!
Oh my, Terri, what a time you had!!! However, your red shoes are killer and I would definitely wear them again. Shopping therapy always seems to cure my ills and the pieces your bought are so pretty!!! Hope you have a wonderful week ahead.
Linda
Oh my Gosh Terri, you had me on the edge of my seat! I thought you were going to tell me you had discovered that your heart could not take that much stress...mine would not have been able to! It sounds like you need a big hug. So sorry you had a fall in the elevator. How completely awful! You need a chill day for sure.
Love the little beaded purse you found, and the red shoes are awesome! Wish I could wear those, but I think I would have fallen out the front door.
Big, Big hugs to you dear friend! Hope your week goes better.
Terri, Sorry to hear you have had such a rough week. The workout sounds gruesome! And the fall.... oh my. I once fell off of our stage at church immediately after performing in front of 300+ people. While it physically hurt (for several days!), my pride was much more wounded. So I can completely sympathize with you. Your shoes are gorgeous though! :) :) :) Love them!
INSANE!! I couldn't do that boot camp in cooler weather, but no way in HECK could/would I do it in this heat. I bow to you. Of course that's why you look like YOU do, and I look like I do. LOL I'm thinking you need to keep some Gatorade with you, missy!
You had me cracking up about the elevator! Oh the visual!! I can see those purdy red shoes up in the air. I shouldn't laugh. (but you have to admit it IS funny, now that we know your okay!) Maybe next time you should take the stairs? Just sayin'....
LOVE your treasure! You always come up with the coolest things. Hurry back and show us your A & E update. I can't wait to see!
Stay cool, and BE CAREFUL!
Hugs from Texas..
Yikes! I am so glad to know you survived. I thought maybe you were going to say you had a heart attack or something. Slow it down a little, really. Your bag is really neat. :) http://astitchersstory.blogspot.com/
Wow and I thought I had bad weeks!! Take care! At least you got a nice treasure when you went shopping!!
Geeze Louise! What a week you've had! I'm hoping you are doing okay and are not too sore - from both the work-out and the fall-down. I fell once in a mall. I was walking along in my higher heels and boom - down I went. I had a dress on too. I was so mortified. First people stood there and looked at me and then asked if I was okay. I just mumbled yes... and slunk off!

Here's to a new, totally awesome, fantastic week!!!
OMG Terri!!! I got to admit I would be the 1st person to laugh when others or myself falls but this was not funny at all ! I sure hope youre doing ok ♥
it does sound like a terrible week but next time the trainer even mentions going outside in this heat you should mention he is out of his freaking mind! he might be able to take it but not all bodies are the same, i know i wouldve passed out before even arriving to the gym lol !
take lots of care!! and the heels were amazing! i love heels but cant wear them for more than two minutes ;)
Thank goodness for Gatorade! Take care and I hope you have a better week. Your red shoes are awesome despite getting the heel caught and falling.
Sorry to hear about your being dehydrated (and de-electrolyted) and your fall. The falls sounds like something I would do.
It's a good thing my mama didn't name me Grace.
Terri, boot camp is for Marines! But then to have such an embarrassment in the elevator on top of it...you poor thing! Glad youre feeling better now.
LOVE the little beaded purse!
I don't like the sound of that boot camp! It may get results, but wht good is that if you feel horrible? Hope you feel better now.
Oh Terri! I'm so sorry about the fall and the heat stroke and everything. You have to watch it -- is that guy crazy to make you all go outside like that in such horrible heat? Ugh! I'm so glad you're feeling better now -- smart hubby! Love that purse you found, and the necklace too. Nice shoes too -- love snazzy shoes. Hope you're not feeling too bruised.
Glad you are feeling better. What a terrible couple of days. A good reminder for all of us about the dangers of dehydration, which is easy to fluff off.
Thanks for the history on the Desert Rose dishes a couple of weeks ago. Definately some things I didn't know.
Be careful out there!!
Bobbi
What a horrible week. It's hot here too (Dallas tends to get hot hot hot this time of year). I got laid off Friday so that was MY week but no physical torture fortunately.
Gosh, Terri--what a week!! I can't even imagine being taken outside to run in those 90+ degree days we had last night. I'm surprised more people didn't have major problems. I sure hope this week is a better one for you :)
Love that bag you found--you always find the best stuff!
Sorry, Terri about your week..but thank God you are alright...that Boot camp guy sounds like a moron!! Sounds more like a drill instructor for a bunch of new Marines! Doesn't he get the word "DEHYDRATION"?? A person could die...UGH! Sorry about your fall....but I do love the shoes!! Have a better week!
Ouch! Double ouch! First the heat stroke thing - bad news that is. And then the fall etc. Oh blech! I hope you will heal up quickly!
It was very bad form for those guys to laugh. What goes around comes around, you know what I mean?
Take good care!
ps Thanks for your good wishes about my job situation!
OMG, that instructor should be fired, that's nuts!!! So glad your DH figured out why you were feeling so badly. And ack on the fall, I hate that you were so mortified and bruised and battered. Hope you are feeling much, much better!!!!!
Sweet little purse too.
Wow! That sounds like the week from Hell! Poor thing! That P90X stuff is brutal....we did P90 and that is 6 days a week! Sorry to hear of your fall! =( I hope this next week is alot better for you!
Girlfriend! Boot Camp? Seriously? Glad you got some Gatorade and sleep. Feel better soon and no more PX90...seriously...be kind to yourself, there are other ways to get your exercise in! You are darling and those shoes..fabulous!
Ouch on the fall! And yikes on the heat stroke. I'm glad you're better - take care!
Oh Terri!! What a week.
It sounds like you did get heat stroke and dehydrated. I have heard about that exercise program and about how hard it is. I know that with the heat going up I have been sweating more than ever at Zumba, and I need to be careful.
I am so sorry that you had a fall too. It really stinks that you were feeling good and pretty and the fall ruined it. And you had an audience, ugh.
Lovely new treasures.
I hope that this week is better.
Hugs!
Heatstroke and falling in the same week -- you must have felt like the world was against you! Glad you are feeling better. And those are some really snazzy shoes!
Oh my what a week. Glad you were not hurt any worse than you were. Love those shoes!!!!
Oh Terri, I am just so sorry! Almost heat stroke and falling while wearing such gorgeous shoes... big hugs to you. Thank goodness you have kept your sense of humor.
Geez. P90X doesn't sound like a healthy program, or maybe it's just an idiot instructor. Sorry about the fall - glad you didn't break something. The guys may not have been laughing at YOU but a comment about how good you or your sexy shoes looked! You know how childish men can be around good looking women! I love love that necklace. Take care of yourself. All that "torture" must be continued in order to keep the results.
Poor Terri! It seems that you have not suffered any long-term ill effects anyway, and that's good. I was going to start the P90X myself since running/walking doesn't do much to halt my middle-age spread anymore, but I'm rethinking it since reading your post lol.
e to go outside.Oh my Terri. So glad you are alright. Falling is never fun and I know it is embarassing. Yuk. I would have stopped the first time that instructor said to go outside. LOL Take care, Janice. Love your purse too!
Oh no, what a terrible week! I am so happy you are ok though. I can't imagine doing PX90 outside. It's hard enough inside with aircon. Be sure to take it easy on yourself and keep hydrated. Love the little beaded bag and the necklace. :)
Oh mon Dieu quelle chaleur !!!!!
I love your shooes my friend, bisous de France, have a good time
Oh you poor thing! Next time tell the instructor where to stick his bottle of water when he says you are going outside. He should have been able to see that you were in trouble.
Sorry about the fall too, hope you give the shoes a second chance, they are too pretty to languish in a wardrobe.
Seriously pretty shoes. Yep you were dehydrated all right. Listen to your body. You can achieve boot camp. Just maybe ease into it. FYI Smart water and Power Aide Zero have no sugar but DO have good stuff you need. Sorry you fell and got sick:(
But glad you survived it all:)
I was feeling your pain as I was reading!! I do hope you are all recovered!
You always find the best things ~ the bag is so sweet!
I'm so sorry to read about your fall and the heat stroke, but so proud you're doing the P90x - that's some tough stuff.
Oh Terri, that was some week!! Glad you're feeling better (that boot camp sounds terrible - there's getting fit and there's getting fit and that sounds like torture!)but sorry that you had the fall. Totally understand your embarassment. I would have felt exactly the same way.
Hope this week is a better one for you.
Oh my! What a fiasco! I don't think that workout is healthy!! Running in the heat may be for military recruits but not normal folks like us! And the military has been monitoring those type of workouts too, cause they are dangerous! What was he thinking?? And then the fall! Oh my! You HAD to rest! There is also Smart Water that has electrolytes, but no sugar... just a thought! Walmart even has it! Looking forward to your update! Hugs!
YIKES!!!! Oh my gosh. I am so glad that you're okay. I love the shoes! I am so sorry about the fall--I know part of it--besides the pain--is the embarrassment. I fell up the cement stairs leading into the bank and everything went flying. My shoes went flying (!), my purse and its contents went flying (including the emergency feminine supplies I keep in it, geez louise!), and generally I was absolutely mortified. I hopped up and went into the bank and did what I needed to do and then got to the car and sobbed. :P I was luckier than you--it sounds like you got banged up pretty good! I hope you're feeling better.
What a sweet beaded bag!
I think your bootcamp instructor needs an adjustment... Glad your fall was not more severe - I'm sort of graceful like that, too. You take care of yourself so you can share more great finds and beautiful stitching! Be well.
Good Lord woman!!! You DID have a super rough time!! No wonder you didn't feel good... Extreme heat on top of a half ca-razee instructor.... Sheesh, you'd have ordered flowers and buried me..... Moral of story: act like you've got good sense! Lol lol... I am SO BEHIND on blog reading... Can I just say I have been, and for 11 more days, continue to be, the laziest woman along the SCarolina beaches??? And at nights I stitch my beloved A&E... I won't be done come this Sunday but could be finished the following update Sunday.. We'll see... So, you take care and no more shenanigans! Jerry needs Terri!!!! Take care, Faye
Oh my goodness, Terri! I hope you have recovered from your rough time! But WOW on those shoes! :)
Love the little bag! And that's a sweet necklace too!
Please take it easy for a while. :)
Oh, Terri, I'm so sorry to hear about your fall! I can totally identify!!! It's so embarrasing to fall in public. Luckily, when I fell at work, I was the first one in, so not any witnesses to the actual fall.
Hope you're feeling better, and gorgeous shoes, by the way.
My word what a dreadful week you had!
I have heard about those boot camps...tough as nails but extremely effective.
You fall was not funny but your story telling of it was. Glad that you maintain a sense of humor about the ordeal.
Glad you were able to find some lovely treasures.
Wishing you better days ahead.
OH dear! I hope you feel better by now. I really enjoyed reading your story
p.s. I love hte name of your blog. lol so cute!

Those certainly are killer heels!! Oh Terry, when I read about you tripping headlong into the elevator, I winced! You poor dear! And the running and the throwing up. Not fun :( When I cycle, I remember to get a Gatorade to keep my electrolytes up and so I don't overheat and fall over. Well, let's hope nothing more happens to you. That purse is amazing by the way. I collect small beaded purses too, most of them are from my Nana. She had such style!
Oh my goodness what a time you have had - I am glad you are feeling better after all of that !!!
My goodness Terri, it's a wonder you didn't end up in hospital! I think they were crazy making you run in that heat. That's beyond brutal!
I'm glad to hear that you're feeling much better now.
I adore the beaded bag! It reminds me of some that my mom carried on special occasions.
