A day Late and a Little Short!

I am a day late in posting my SAL progress with FAYE and MARILYN  and a few days behind in stitching!
I went to my friend Julie's house on Friday to help her with some graduation party decorations.
Silly me, I thought I might get a little time to stitch that evening, but I did not and when I left her house, I left my stitching, too.  Julie lives about an hours drive from my house so I didn't want to drive all the way over there just to pick it up.   She brought it to work today so hence, the late posting and little stitching progress.
I am SURE that if I'd had it this weekend, my progress would be much more impressive!
Rather than gardening, I would have stitched a BUNCH on Saturday and Sunday.
YOU KNOW I WOULD!!

Anyway... this is called the Adam and Eve Reproduction Sampler from the May 2009 Cross Stitch and Needlework Magazine.  I am stitching it on 36 count, Lakeside Magnolia with a conversion of threads.

This is where I left off on Friday afternoon:

The over one on 36 count is not my favorite but I love how over one looks when done.
I'm also not crazy about the constant color changes in the words but I'm not going to change it at this point.  Over one on 36 count is not my idea of fun stitching.

In other exciting news..... Matt turned 21 in early May and here's a pic of he and Rob enjoying his
first beer.

Okay, you and I both know it's not his first beer but it was his first legal beer, with his dad.

Matt was born right around Mother's Day and it's always a special treat when his b-day falls on Mother's Day.   It didn't this year, but both days were extra special because of him turning 21.  Amazing.  Not amazing that he's 21.  Amazing that I'M 21 years older.
Golly.  That makes me.... oh, never mind that.
Focus, Terri, Focus.  It's about Matt, not you!
Geesh... conversations with myself in writing.  Wonder what that means?
Anyway, Matt is a great kid and he is considerate and kind and smart and I love him dearly.

I got beautiful tulips for my Mother's Day flowers and when they opened up, this is what they looked like.  The light was coming thru the window the next morning and I thought the flower looked so pretty.   I love how they looked in my Desert Rose water pitcher.
The colors were perfect!

And finally, I found this little sewing table at a recent estate sale.

They had marked it $75.  Always having been a bargain shopper, I asked if they'd take something less.  The lady working the checkout area said she'd "let it go" for $55.  Not quite a good enough bargain for me.  I asked if things would be 1/2 price the next day and she said they would so I told her I'd just come back tomorrow and take my chances.  As I was checking out with a $3 purchase, I asked if they'd hold the table for me tomorrow if it didn't sell that day.  Another worker overheard me and said, "Oh, for gosh sakes, give it to her for 1/2 price."
She did!  So, I got the table for $37.50 when not more than 10 minutes prior, I was asked to pay $55!  So glad I didn't take her $55 offer!  As you can see, it needs a little work but that's okay!
It's a darling table and I'm tickled with it.    Being a Leo, I LOVE the lion head pulls!
What do you think?  Worth $37.50?

I am behind in answering some emails but I will get to it.  I am super busy at work this week and will catch up when I can, in the evenings.
Thank you so much for coming by and for your kind notes!  They make my finding time to blog worthwhile and I appreciate them a great deal!

Have a wonderful week, I'll see you again in two unless something earth shattering happens.

Be well,
Peace!
Terri

Wow, you're good at getting a bargain for sure :-) That table is just adorable, and certainly worth what you paid for it. Love your samplers too, and Many Happy Returns to your handsome boy - mine was born ON Mother's Day, ha! :-)

Adam and Eve is moving right along! I admire you for stitching over one on 36 count. No way could I do that, but it looks AWESOME!

Girlfriend! You find THE most cool bargains at the estate sales you go to. I'm totally loving the sewing table! I've never seen one like that, but it's awesome. And you stole it...she ma'am, you did! LOL 37.50? COOL BEANS!

Happy Birthday to your son! I have no doubt in my mind that it's his first beer. As if.....LOL

The sampler looks great Terri. You're really moving along on it - and yes, I know that you would have a lot more finished if you had it this weekend. But I'm sure your gardening paid off. With all this warm weather it seems that the weeds just can't stay away.

Great estate sale find. Isn't this sewing table #2? Where the heck are you going to put it?? :o)

Love the sewing table Terri! Sorry you weren't able to get a lot of stitching done this past weekend. I'm sure it had been in the same place as you were you would have gotten tons done! It's beautiful despite the lack of stitching!

And what a deal for the table - can't believe you got it all the way down from the marked $75 to just under $40.

Your WIP looks lovely! Don't feel too bad about Matt turning 21 and that being a shock that you were 21 years older. I could barely celebrate my sweet daughter's 40th birthday!!!! No way was I old enough to have a 40 year old daughter!!!!

That sewing table is a fabulous find - I am envious! I also am not a fan of stitching over one but the pain is worth it because it does look good! My son is also 21 - it's an accomplishment to see your child all grown up I bet you feel proud- :)

Lovely stitching Terri, over one on 36ct looks good, I know it's a bit of a pain, all that concentration.
The boy must be so glad to be 21, no more hassle from M&D lol.
Your sewing table is a dream, so cheap!
Happy Week:))

What an adorable find at the estate sale, Terri! And what a shopper you are... sure wish I could "borrow" you in June when we are having an estate sale at my parents' house. We have NO idea how much to ask for things. Some people are obviously going to get great bargains :)

Lovely sampler progress--stitching over one on 36 ct. would really slow me down, too!!

Happy 21st to your son--they do grow up way too fast, don't they? My "baby" turns 24 in July :(

I always think Estate sales are rather sad as it is one of the steps in the 'closing of a life". I think each estate sale item comes attached with memories which makes it a bargain no matter what the price.

Melissa said...

OMG, Terri, that is some beautiful cabinet and what a bargoon! Lucky you! I am going to commission you to look for stuff for me! lol.

The sampler is wonderful! I am sure this will start a lot of people hunting for the design now!

Happy Birthday Matt! and Mom, you are looking pretty darn good for 21 years older! ;-)

Love the A& E. The letters are a pain but the colored letters are really unique and pretty. Congrats to Matt!
I think you got a terrific bargain. I think it's worth at least double the $75.

Maggie said...

lol, good on you for hanging out on the price! Everything comes to those who wait :-)

Congratulations to your son on his 21st!

Lovely stitching, i'm with you on the over one stitching, only tried it once but, ugh, i hated it...but you are right, it's does look great when it's done:-)

I'm pretty sure fabulous bargains like that just do not exist here. Everyone knows what they've got and that if you won't pay for it, someone else will. You're doing great on the over one--it looks fab. Persist!

Wow great bargain and so worth 37.50, glad you didn't take the 55 offer. Adam and Eve is looking great, me I'm not a fan of 1 over 1 on 36 ct but it does look so pretty.Conversations with yourself are great, I find I never answer back and I always say just what I want to hear lol. Birthday wishes to your son, what a handsome young man he is.

Happy birthday to your son! My twins just turned 18, which is legal drinking age here. My daughter's had her night out on the town but DS hasn't yet... should be interesting! The table is such a great piece--and even more special at that price! Good for you. LOVE your A&E! I want to stitch that, too, but I keep looking at the over one and putting it away. It is definitely worth the effort--yours looks wonderful.

Oh wow, Terri! That is a great picture of your all grown up son with his father, congrats to him turning legal! Wow, Terri, lots in this update!!! You've been busy. I'm sorry to hear you left your stitching at Julie's house. I'd be so ticked at myself!! (I've never forgotten my stitching bag anywhere, but I've left my purse multiple times. What does that say about me, lol.) Great photo of Matt and Rob. They look so happy together. And the sewing table looks really neat. I'm glad you didn't have to go back for it. Awesome bargainer, you!!

Great post! Love your project! I agree, over one can be a pain, but it is so pretty when completed. Loe that table ~ and yes, I think the price you paid is worth it ~ wish I could find things like that!
Great picture of your husband and son. Happy Birthday to him! I had to giggle when you wrote first beer ~ when my oldest turned twelve earlier this year, he was excited at the though of being only 9 years away from his first beer. I just thought to mysel, "keep telling yourself that kid!".

Happy Birthday to your son! Wow 21 is a milestone!! Gorgeous progress on your SAL with the girls!! Love it! And that sewing table is amazing! I love how you haggle with them :D I'm all about the haggling!!

OMGosh Terri - I probably would have paid $155 and not batted an eye - I paid $225 for my antique sewing table and it is not as elaborate as yours appears to be - I can't believe what a hard bargain you drive GF - you are a professional shopper I think. Your SAL is just beautiful and your DS is 21 - WOW - hard to believe since you look 29 yourself!
Hope you've had a great holiday weekend - Mel

I think that you got that lovely sewing table for a bargain - good job, Terri! It is a real beauty and I can't even see what work it needs.

Hmm, it sounds like maybe I have to go somewhere and forget my projects over a weekend. My weeds are thriving in my flower beds right now... Too bad that I am a stitcher who works on 40 projects at the same time.. LOL

Beautiful tulips and congrats to the birthday boy.
The sampler looks wonderful too and I really, really like the effect of the different colored words. A pain to stitch, I am sure, but it does turn out absolutely beautiful.
Can't wait to see your continued progress!

Have a happy weekend!

Here I've been admiring your Adam and Eve sampler wondering where I could find it...but almost afraid to ask since I have so many already needing to be stitched.

Thanks for telling me where it's from. As soon as I read it, I raced upstairs to see if I had that mag....and I do!!

Now....I wonder if I could talk you into sharing what floss colors you're using.

Pretty please?
