Sunday Fun and Sweet Surprises!

Today was the KSS (Kindred Spirits Sampler) Guild's annual Auction. This is always a much anticipated and fun event which helps raise money to pay for the teachers we have visit.

This morning, as I'm getting ready to go, DH-Rob asked if I'd like breakfast? Huh? Do I ever turn down a meal? Especially when someone else is cooking? "Yes, hon' I'd love breakfast!". A few minutes into eating and my lower lip starts to itch and swell. Not sure what I could possibly be reacting to - maybe Rob's trying to poison me slowly and it's finally working - he has been making a lot of weekend breakfasts lately..... Anyway, the darn lip kept growing and getting further and further away from my face. I could see my lower lip sticking out! I looked like Bubba Gump on steroids. Quick! Pop some Benadryl 'cause I'm starting to panic. I've had a severe allergic reaction before and trust me, not fun. I called Julie and Deb to tell them I couldn't make it. But then, a bright idea hit. I'd have Rob drive me to Deb's (a good 30 minutes away), and I'd ride to the guild meeting with her. Thankfully, by the time we got to Deb's house the swelling had gone down so I was able to attend without looking like Bubba! We had a great time and Deb and Julie both came away with some auction wins. I got zip. One rotten lady outbid me at the very last second on a bunch of sampler charts I was watching... bummer! A fun day all in all and here are some pics of the days offerings. I had a pic taken of the 3 of us but there wasn't one shot where we ALL looked stunning so it'll have to wait for another day.

After the meeting, I was going to have Matt (DS) meet me at Deb's so she wouldn't have to go so far out of her way to take me home. But... she insisted that she didn't mind at all so she drove me home and we had a nice chat all the way! I really did feel bad though, the freeway was closed for construction (even though there was no constructing going on) so it took longer than it should have. Thanks, Deb!

Here are some random pictures of some of the things at auction. Deb won a SB kit for $10 and Julie got the sweet cherry fob stitched on 40 count, over one with a pair of red scissors to go along! It was stunning and not quite the deal that Deb's was but still, worth every penny!

The last two pics are what made my day so sweet..... I got home and look what I found.... Rob and Matt working over a pot of chilli for dinner - I didn't have to do a thing tonight - Rob knows I'm not feeling well so he took care of everything!!! So, I decided to use my time to make this post and now it's off to stitch or sleep - not sure which....

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by and for all the comments you leave, I really appreciate them!
Peace,
Terri

Hey Terri - Like I said, I love those road trips and it was good catching up on everything. Hope you're feeling better and get some stitching done tonight. And god love those men who make dinner - mine was waiting for me too!!

Wow, Terri! I hope that allergic reaction has gone away and you feel all better! Sounds like you all had a great time! And to come home to dinner already made! Wow! My husband rarely cooks. He just bakes. Which is enough -- shouldn't complain! lol!

Oh, an auction like that would be a dangerous place for me. Looks like loads of fun.

Hope you're feeling better and you find out what caused your reaction.

Hi there! I came across your blog on Margie's sidebar, and love it! Loved the frame selection in your last post... Your music selection is great too... I might need to pop one of those bad boys on my blog! Your comment re: road closures for "non-construction" made me LOL... my mom lives north of Rochester, MI (I'm in MD) and it seems that every time I've headed up 75 over the past decade there have been road closures... but no construction... and they sure as heck aren't fixing the canyons... uh, I mean potholes, lol!! Anyway, I hope you're feeling better tonight!

Great photos! Sorry to hear about the allergic reaction. I've had that happen before... Benadryl is wonderful. And, I love that you took so many pics of the auction items. It looks like it was a ton of fun. Kudos to your men for taking care of you too!

Other than the breakfast allergy it sounds like you had a fun day. Having dinner made is always a good thing!

Glad that your day wasn't ruined - and I hope your lip's back to normal now, it must have been very scary. What a bunch of great stuff!

I'm glad to hear that the allergic reaction was quashed quickly. LOL about your husband trying to poison you. On Christmas Eve, as I wrapped Christmas gifts, my DH made me some crackers with tomato & cheese. I swelled up & got hives from head to toe. I couldn't figure out what the problem was but a week or so later, he admitted that he hadn't washed the tomatoes!!! LOL The auction sounds like it was a lot of fun--great photos--but I'm sure the best part was the buddies you got to spend time with. :)

That auction would have spelt disaster for me because I would have kept on bidding and won something. Did you find out what you are allergic to? Hope you are feeling heaps better today. Love Patti xxx

The guild meeting and auction sounds really fun. And you seeem to have had a lot of fun there in spite of the fact that you couldn't win the sampler haul.
I hope you are feeling better today and that your allergic raction is completely over.

It sounds like you had a fabulous day, apart from the allergic reaction in the morning (but your description did make me chuckle). What a lot of lovely things in the auction.

Hi Terri, glad your reaction didn't prevent you from having the fun day out you had. Some great items at the auction by the look of that. What a wonderful treat to come home and have DS and DH preparing the meal for you as well.
Thank you for your blog comments and yes, that is me on the beach with Ben. I love hats too :)!!

Thank you for the pictures of the auction. Sounds like a fantastic day!!! Except of the allergic reaction. I hope you got over that.

It looks like you had a great time there. Wow, all that goodies.

I hope too that the allergic reaction stays away and won't come back again for you.

You must be proud to have two great guys in your house! But mine DH makes dinner at the weekends and on Monday, so I have nothing to complain about. :)

Have a great week with a lot of stitching.

Oh, that looks like fun, Terri! Nothing like that around here that I've heard of - 'course that's probably a good thing since stash money is carefully monitored and that would blow it all! LOL

Hope whatever reaction that was, Terri, that is all better by now! Glad that you got to enjoy the day and also that you had a loving family to take care of you, when you returned home!;)
