Yep, you read it right. I've had to fire the window installer.
Will you look at this house?
How in the world could a professional NOT put in a window?
I am baffled by the incompetence of this supposed expert.
What a nincompoop!
The hired replacement will have to dismantle the house in sections and re-install the missing window. What a waste of time and money! As I'm sure you're aware, building materials are not inexpensive. Talk about wasting valuable resources!
Geesh.
It is just so hard to get good help.
The project inspectors (yep, that'd be YOU), are equally to blame for not notifying the project manager about this egregious error.
In other developments, I am working away on the monthly SAL, Joyful World, which is being gifted by Maja at Snowflower Diaries. Find a link to the the SAL on her blog, here.
I am working a bit ahead by trying to complete the borders prior to all the monthly designs being released.
I'm trying to use my time wisely, while I have it!

You can find many versions of the SAL on the Facebook group called Stitch Along - Joyful World.
It's not too late to join. Here is my progress to date. I have changed a few things, as you know I tend to do.

Aren't the four corners that meet pretty? I love how lacy they look.
January: I changed the white flowers to red winter berries because the white just wasn't showing up on my linen. I also added a small berry stem to the bottom right.
February: I changed a lot. I turned the ducks into Shepherd's Bush inspired sheep with a sweep of my magic wand needle and I changed the flower colors to red.
March: No major changes but I did add a few extra flower stems and leaves and changed the flower colors a bit, too.
I'd have kept on stitching but I ran out of thread. That's what I get for using a partially used skein. I had another skein of the same color but it was the same in name only. Not even close. I'll have to hit up the store in the next few days and get the borders DONE!
I'm looking forward to seeing what April brings.
Finally, I got the WTN&T Mystery Sampler back from the framer. The frame, although it looks blue, is actually black with a bit of red.

Honestly, isn't that always the way with contractors! What a pain to re-do that area.
Love your personal touches on the Snowflower SAL. Are you using the same contractor for the borders as you did for the window? ;-) Better keep and eye out.
Your framed sampler looks great. Aren't cameras funny about colors?
Can you sue? If the contractor is female, touched by menopause, caring for parents, remodeling her house, embarking on a life change, expecting days of heartache, please forgive her. She has a lot on her mind. But if the contractor was a male, hang 'em.
After reading Marly's comment. I can't really add anything except my sympathy. Even if fired, you will still have to have patience with the results of the error!! I do love all the rest of the stitching. The frame is so pretty with that design.
Oh dear oh dear. And windows are such a pain to have put in! Perhaps the contractor was trying to preserve privacy in the bathroom? ;) (thanks for making me laugh)
Your SAL is looking marvelous also!
Hilarious Terri, would you like me to come over and "install" that window for you since mine have been done all correctly!?! lol
Love your SAL stitching too, look forward to seeing more of this lovely project.
Well crap! Thank goodness we can laugh at ourselves. You are correct that your inspectors should be fired! I even had to go look at your last post to see if the window was missing - sometimes all the safety checks in the world will not prevent an error!
Love your WTNT Mystery Sampler and the frame. I have been following your progress on the Joyful World SAL and it's really pretty. I love your lacey corners.
I am thrilled for you that your parents will be living with you and my heart hurts at the changes that have/will happen to your mom. My mom also has dementia. This is probably an old post but somewhere on FB there was a post about an elderly gentleman who had an early morning doctor's appointment as he had to be somewhere else for 9:00. The doctor asked him where he ha to be and he said he was meeting his wife at the home for breakfast. The doctor said, hasn't she had dementia for a long time/will she know who you are and the elderly gentleman replied, 'no, but I know who she is'. I think we have to hold that comment close to our heart.
That was very long winded Terri, but I just want you to know I am sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way.
Heck! I think your window installer did an awesome job and I like it the way it is! Hire him back and thank him for a job well done! 😄
Love the frame molding on the mystery piece! I am sorry about the missing window. I am really enjoying your take on the Joyful World SAL.
Oh no :( hope it's not too painful to get the window installed.
Oh those window installers! Beautiful finish on mystery sampler
Aww love your sweet post..
Your sal is looking wow ..so pretty
Enjoy your day
Happy March x
Oh no!! I also had to go back to have a look at your last post, it smacks you in the face when you know what you're looking for!
I'm sure you will rectify it, but bloody annoying all the same.
I love how you changed the Joyful world, i'm still plugging away at February (hangs head in shame), i will get there...eventually :-)
x
Oh noooooooo!
I hope it all works out. :(
LOL at Marly's comment.
Your SAL is looking god, and the frame is pretty for the Mystery Sampler.
Grab your favorite beverage and start picking!
Marilyn
Oops! Could you say they bricked it up to avoid window tax?
Your Joyful World is looking gorgeous
I feel your pain! I've left out a few windows here and there. So frustrating. I've never commented on your blog before, but I always enjoy reading it and catching up with your projects.
Oh bother! I am sorry you have to go through that mess of fixing it.
You surely have so much on your plate right now Terri. Your SAL is looking great. And the framed piece is lovely.
You can't find good help nowadays!
I am always inspired when I come to your blog....such beauty and I feel like here I sit, spinning my wheels...
I adore that frame on the Mystery, I love that SAL and your home (albeit the window will need installing) looks stunning!
Have a great week!
Oh, NOOOOOOO!
I feel your pain . . .but at least it can be fixed . . .
This is hysterical... I'm working on Miss Baxter and have just finished the outside border - AND IT MATCHED! But, before that, I would be stitching away and I had mis-counted.... oops! Then I was frogging! Love your choices for Joyful World.
I love Marly's comments! She's right on.
Have you located Sovine yet? Would love to borrow or buy it. I've looked everywhere.
Anxiously awaiting all the new things from Market.... Have a great day.
Ohhhh, sorry about the window....Love your changes on the Joyful World SAL.
Your framed is beauitful!
I enjoyed your post so much. I'm sorry the about the window, but the way you handled it with your cute sense of humor was a delight. All your work is beautiful. I appreciate your example of handling the challenges life throws at you with love and courage.
(Isn't that Marly the best?)
I feel your pain but I have to say this post just made me smile. I suppose your house is going to go over budget now? I hope the replacement builder is better :)
Brings back fond memories of a piece I did in early years - no front door!!!! Totally messed it up. Learned what frogging meant.
Repeat after me..." all mistakes make a piece unique", now say it again. I have two (2) samplers that I made mistakes, yes forgot a letter in each.... never noticed. " all mistakes....... hahaha
I hope you did not fully pay that builder as you should get your money back. I know a good lawyer if you need one! Love your monthly stitchery...keep us posted on your progress. Janice
So glad your sense of humor is firmly in place! I wholeheartedly agree with Marly's comment. :)
Oh my, what a pity that you have to redo that part of the wall in order to insert the forgotten window. But once it's done you won't think about it any longer.
I love how your Joyful World months are coming along. The border looks gorgeous, and you changes are just as nice as the original.
So sorry you are having trouble with your installers! I hope it will not be a severe problem and hopefully it will not take too long for them to fix it! Your SAL pieces look wonderful and your changes are perfect! I really prefer the sheep to ducks!
Love the SAL and the changes you have made; they are perfect! Sorry about the window!! LOL
Pam L in Kansas
guess that's what you call getting into a "zone" with the house building eh? sorry you have to tear out (sigh) - OH love your mystery sampler framed. My mom finished that one and it looks so good on her sampler wall. I've been watching your Snowflower pieces on FB - soooo adorable! glad you are rocking along - hey - what? no word about the WHO concert? take care Mel
I love your sense of humor! lolol! But ouch! Poor installer! I feel sorry for her. :D Love your monthly finish too -- very pretty! And the framed finish is wonderful!
Ouch! Thank goodness you have a sense of humor. : ) You are doing such a beautiful job on the SAL pieces! And What a lovely frame for the Mystery Sampler!
Marly's comment made me giggle as much as your post did! Fancy bricking up a window. There used to be a window tax in the UK, maybe the homeowner was trying to avoid paying?
Good help is so hard to find. Hope you have better luck with the new window installer. Really like your Snowflower piece. March is so pretty with all those flowers.
I love your sense of humor and your stitching. Even without the window the piece is lovely. Love the way you have changed up the Snowflower calendar and the way your corners meet. So creative and pretty.
Darnit Terri!!! Sorry you will have to do some ripping. I hate when that happens! Love how it is looking though, and love your mystery sampler. Did you use the threads called for or sub some of them. I can't remember what I used. I don't have mine done...it's languishing in my to-do pile as a WIP. Hang in there and good luck with the renovations!
Oh en France aussi parfois nous avons des soucis avec les entrepreneurs.. !!! :o)
Bravo pour le mois de mars déjà brodé sur le Joyful World...
L'encadrement choisit est magnifique, il met très en valeur votre ouvrage.

I'm sorry about your installer's goof-up, but I am so relieved I'm not the only one to have such problems! LOL. And your personalizations of the monthly charts are super-cute. :)
Oh dear, oh dear, so hard to get good staff. You could always channel Prime Minister of England, William Pitt, who was a bit desperate for money and put a tax on Windows so in Georgian houses a lot have been blocked up.......sometime in the 1700s?
