I'm Done!

Well.... done with my part anyway! When I told BFF Julie that I had gotten the BoaF Friendship Sampler pattern she wanted to stitch it too. But, she had a great idea. She would stitch the girl on my sampler that looked most like her and I'd stitch "me". When she gets around to stitching the sampler herself, I'll stitch "me" on hers. Instead of the year the piece shows at the bottom, this sampler will have both of our initials in it. This seemed like such a great idea and will really give the "Friendship" sampler more meaning. It would be an ideal piece to stitch for a dear friend and give away but I have such a hard time doing that. Giving my stitching away, I mean.

I get to stitch the blonde girl. Not because I am a blonde, at least not a natural blonde, anyway. I got blondie because I am a natural brunette but I've had highlights gone bad (orangey), I've had red hair - from fire engine red to a really pretty auburn, I've been darn near platinum and I've been what I am now which is sort of a non-de-script brown. Julie has never strayed from being a brunette. She is true to her natural hair color whereas I am constantly getting bored and changing my color.

This was a really fun stitch. It is on an unknown 32 ct fabric and I used most of the called for fibers. A couple of the colors called for are no longer being made, or they've changed the name but I found something similar and it worked out. I did change one of the blues to a darker shade as the piece was just a little too pastel for my tastes. You can see the difference in this picture and the last time I posted my progress on this. I ripped out all the light blue letters I had done and restitched them in the darker blue. The colors are so pretty and it was a fun, easy stitch. I also used a DMC flesh tone for the girls face - the fiber the pattern called for was going to make her look orange. While that might have been closer to my own natural look (especially if I use the wrong color of tanning cream!), it just wouldn't do for my sampler. I have to admit though, that her cheeks do look a a lot like mine when I put my blush on in the car, in the dark, on the way to work. I go in the bathroom for the first time at some point and wonder how it is nobody slapped a big, red clown nose on my face.....

I am so happy to have finally gotten to stitch this sampler that I loved the first time I saw it. I have now passed the pattern on to Julie so she can stitch it, too.

Finally today, look what ANDREA sent me! She had a contest on her blog and although I didn't win, I must have gushed enough about the cute angel that she sent me a prize, too! How sweet is that? I just love the primitive angel and look at that pretty needle waxer! How darling is that? Andrea's friend made it and I just love it. Please tell your friend thank you for me, Andrea. Not that I'll ever use it ~ it's way too pretty for that, but I will put it in my sewing basket that is the home for some of my prettier sewing accessories. She also sent the cute notepad. I was so surprised and really tickled. What a fun and sweet friend you are, Andrea. Thank you!

Thank you all for all the comments on my last post. I just love reading them and so appreciate that you take the time to leave a note. I don't take them for granted and truly appreciate each and every one.

Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.

Peace!
Terri

Your Friendship Sampler looks so pretty! It will have such special meaning when Julie stitches her self portrait.

Nice gift from Andrea and so very thoughtful! I hope you have a great weekend too.

What a lovely idea for your friendship samplers, it looks great. I am so envious you got the wax tombie, as that seller will not ship to the UK - maybe I should stitch a frienship sampler with me with a green face.

Your Friendship Sampler looks great Terri and I like the idea to swap with your friend and have you both stitch one of the girls - a nice touch!

I just love this sampler and what a wonderful idea to stitch this with your friend Julie - it truly will add such meaning to the piece. This pattern is on my wishlist - now I just need a friend that stitches :-) Maybe I could convince a friend to pickup stitching long enough to stitch the brunette.

How very generous of Andrea to send you a surprise.

Enjoy your weekend.

Oh very fun! I love your idea on the friendship piece. My friend and I usually stitch those kind of pieces for each other and swap :-).

Love the angel too!

LOVE LOVE LOVE your friendship sampler, and think it is a fabulous idea for your friend to stitch 'herself'!! I am happy your piece wasnt ruined in the storm you had a few weeks back. The colors are really something-- it is nice to step out of the box and do something out of the ordinary, the colors on this piece are what I think I am drawn to as well, besides the design :). Love the little angel gift, how kind of her to send it to you!! It will fit in your home perfectly.

Hi Terri! What a great surprise from Andrea! Your friendship sampler is wonderful and I love the idea you have about stitching you on Julie's sampler and vice versa. Fabulous idea! Also wanted to comment on your previous post. Great curbside find! I think it would look wonderful painted black. Now hurry up and get it done cuz I am surely holding my breath waiting!

Terri - your Friendship Sampler is just beautiful. What a great idea to have your dear friend stitch on it as well. We stitchers are just the best aren't we?? I've only met you via blogs and I consider you one of my dear stitching friends. Funny how needlework does that... Hugs and have a great weekend!!

So what are you stitching on now? I am on a need to know basis, you know! LOL

Hi Terri,

What a neat heirloom between friends you can cherish forever. Great idea you came up with. Julie is lucky to have you as a stitching friend and best friend forever. I hope someday I will be able to stitch this sampler also. I am sooooo glad it wasn't ruined in the storm. Your stitching turned out beautiful. I got a chuckle about you changing the color on the face, as I too am guilty of putting make-up on in the car. Oops!

Love the sampler and what a great idea. Congrats on your surprise package, it really is great. I entered a contest recently (can't remember which one as I have been entering so many) and I was the bridesmaid again. In other words I came second. Lots of Love Patti xxx

Woo Hoo Terri on the finish! I think that you definitely have your mojo back! Although where you've found the time is beyond me. The colors are so nice in this! Such a fresh change from a lot of the stuff that we do! I really love it and tell Julie she needs to get stitching so you can both have your own pieces done and framed. That really is a great rememberance and treasure of a friendship - something that you'll have all your life with a piece of each of you in each other's stitching!

Now what are you just chomping at the bit to stitch? It's not like we don't have things in our stash, right? LOL You haven't said, so I'm looking forward to whatever you do next.

Great gift from Andrea. Lucky dog. But I've found that there are some really sweet people out there in blogland. That angel goes so well with all your prim stuff and I don't think that I'd use that waxer either. It's too cute.

Did get some info on what we need for the class next week, so if I don't talk to you over the weekend, I'll talk to you early in the week!

Beautiful finish, Terri. Can't wait to see what frame you find for it!
